Finding the time to blog

I find it quite hard to find the time to blog. There’s always something else to do, but is it always something more important to do? I was thinking again about having a schedule, not a rigid, strict kind of thing but just a tool to assist me make better use of my time. I took voluntary redundancy last March and the past year has been wonderful, absolutely precious and I wouldn’t change it for the world. However, reflection I think I could have made better use of my time. Or am I being too hard on myself? So what did I do in the past year?

  • I spent lots and lots of time with my boys
  • I left them to and collected them from school nearly every day
  • The family had a fantastic holiday in Portugal
  • I went to Barcelona with some friends and had a lovely time
  • I had many lunches with different friends
  • I had a weekend away with my oldest friend
  • I read a lot
  • I napped  a lot
  • I de-stressed
  • I totally transformed our bedroom from a dumping ground to a de-cluttered, calm space
  • I cooked from scratch  a lot
  • I tried many new recipes
  • I threw out, recycled much of our clutter
  • I finally painted the utility room (NEVER painted since built a few years ago)
  • I became happy and relaxed

Now I think about it I made excellent use of my time. Much of it was spent on ME which we don’t get to do very well when we work outside the home, work inside the home, have children…

Now on to the next phase … a new job. Maybe this is the ideal time to think about that schedule/ routine planner.

There’s a whole other world out there to be discovered …

I deleted my FB app off my phone and tablet. I didn’t deactivate my account as I have done numerous times in the past. I can still have access to it but it’s not so handy now. I will keep it because some friends contact me through messenger and it’s nice to see school photos etc on it. However, I might let it go … I’ll see how often I check it. I was finding myself constantly checking it on my phone and realised that most of it just wasn’t that interesting or important. My old phone didn’t have much storage so I didn’t have FB on it but now I have upgraded my phone I put it on and it’s just too tempting. I was also looking at it for ages in bed at night and by the time I came to read my book I was so tired I could only read a few pages which was awful as I LOVE reading. So now that I am more or less FB-free I can blog more and have been checking out other blogs and some of them look good. There’s a whole other world of interesting and lovely blogs out there and I’m going to enjoy checking them out.

I adore this conversion, click on the link to see it. It is such a delight to see all the little details from the crate shelf, to the atlas, to the twine and clothes peg photo line. I love love love it – any child would love it too. What a space to dream and play. It has inspired me to ‘develop’ my son’s playhouse and make it a fun and amazing place. In fact I am going to start this weekend as he has some friends coming up after school on Friday so I have a week to make some improvements. I will do some before and after posts. Having said that, I do not have the imagination that went into this beauty but I will try …
